What's the current state of Houdini Engine support for Unity

Hi

I was looking at the information on the Asset store and this website and it's giving the impression that there hasn't been an update on the integration in quite a while.
Is it still the case that Houdini Engine for Unity 5 x64 is still in beta? Or is that out of date?

Essentially I'm trying to work out if the integration is actively supported and hence worth my time to look into and have a dig around with the trials.

Thanks in advance for any input , official or otherwise.

Yes, the Unity plugin is still supported in the sense that major bugs will be fixed as they come up and we do try to reply to questions on this forum as promptly as possible. However, new features are not planned in the short term. That could change anytime though.

The Unity Store page needs some updating. I'll look into it. But we now support 4.6 and above on OSX and Windows, 32-bit and 64-bit. You don't need to worry about that anymore as long as you use Houdini 15 or above.

Just a note too that you can also buy Houdini Indie from our website here. There's no difference in the license types or installation method. Either way works.

Great that was the info I was after, while new features are always nice, whats there already looks v interesting and as that's staying around I'll definitely be having a play

FYI the info on your own webpages has the out of date beta info on as well.

Are you talking about just this:

or are there other places where we need an update as well?

I'll pass it along. Thanks!

Thanks again. Our website should be updated now. The Unity Asset store pages will take a bit to update (have the changes be approved by Unity).

No no, don't stop! We need these reminders sometimes.

That said, that article is sort of like a news piece. It was correct when it was announced. Seems a bit weird editing news articles from the past.

I'm more concerned with information pages like specs and minimum requirements being outdated.

Hi Damian, does this mean RFE's are no longer being accepted for the Unity plug-in?

Not at all! Please continue submitting both Bugs and RFEs. It's always valuable to know what is being requested by actual users and how much demand there is for a particular feature. We do prioritize accordingly.

There was a recent presentation on PCG in Unity at UniteEurope2016 and not a single mention of Houdini!!

Pretty huge omission IMHO.

Sorry, but I can't disagree with that.

I just watch this video and that guy is talking about general PCG programming concepts. Houdini is a famous 3D software but that's nothing to do with game programming.

This may sounds harsh, I would suggest SideFX make Houdini popular first. At least those tradional licenses is pretty out-of-date nowadays. My friends just walk away when they saw that pipeline and non-commercial limitations. Seriously, SideFX keep refusing indies.

You should have a look at our Indie licenses.
