If you just want to have one material for all the zombies and one for all the soldiers, then a simple material sop with overrides per group should do the trick. If you want to have variations per agent and more control, then you need to take a look at material stylesheets.

I can't find material stylesheet drop down menu in the data tree.
Based on your screenshot, it looks like you're using Houdini 14.0. I think material stylesheets were added in Houdini 15.0. The latest major version of Houdini is 15.5.
