How to model an Auger

I am having difficulties on modelin an Auger in Houdini. Can anyone suggest a good way to do it? This is what i got now, but i have problems extruding it:

Try creating the cross-section, and then using a sweep. Create a line representing the backbone of the sweep. Either create a normal/up vector attributes to represent the rotation of each cross-section at each point, or use the scale/twist/roll parameters on the sweep node itself. The cross section should be on the X-Y plane to work right.
