Hi Guys,

I have previously installed Houdini 15.5 ok on my mac but the new Houdini 16.0.557 install I can't get an Apprentice license, getting this error in the Houdini License Adminstrator-

ERROR: Internal error: The noncommercial user could not be found

I have done an uninstall / reinstall, and restart….

also tried this site -

Any ideas?

I am getting the same on Windows. Maybe their license server is having a problem? I sent a ticket to support.

I'm getting this as well on Windows 7. Licensing.opt file is using licensingMode = localValidator. Posting to sub for possible answer.

I'm having the same issue, is there any solution to this?

Here's the error that I'm getting when I'm trying to run Houdini 15.5.673 Apprentice version on my Windows 7:

ERROR: internal error: The noncommercial user could not be found.
If possible please fix any problems and try again.
If that doesn't work, you can manually get licenses from

In the past I never had problems running this version of Houdini.
Do I have to upgrade to H16?

Still getting an error, but it's a different dialogue this time. Snipped off at a bit w/ my pc name and a long string of letters/numbers.

Our technical team has now fixed this error. To install a new Houdini Apprentice license please install a new build of Houdini 16.0.578 from our web site (under Get -> Download -> Daily Builds). Then open Houdini, and follow the prompts to use the Houdini License Administrator (hkey) to install a new Houdini Apprentice license.

I seem to be having a similar issue. But I get no error, the hkey program gets kicked off (like it's trying to find a license) and then just hangs. This started to happen last night with the original H16 prod build (from when it was first released). I uninstalled it and installed H 16.0.592, but no luck, still the same behavior.

Anyone else seeing something like this?

I'm having issues getting the indie version up and running… The apprentice seems to be working ok but without the indie license C4d doesn't want to let me use the import. Each time I try to login it tells me to check to make sure my password is invalid when using my sidefx.com credentials. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
