Using mov file to emit smoke

Hi.

So I have been trying to apply an Animated mov file to my geo, that will control the emission of smoke, but I'm not sure which node to create in order to apply the texture. I know that with Maya I could have created an emissive map and an opacity map, but the way to do this in Houdini escapes me.

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure what the final workflow would be for your goals.

But perhaps I can help you get started.

In the hip file attached is an example of how to get one image to display in the scene using a grid and attribfrommap node.

The COP net doesn't contribute towards this but it can import a sequence of images like .exr or .pic (as it does with the default system butterfly images).

So I guess you could convert your .move file to a sequence of .exr image files and import those into the COP net.

What you could next I am not sure.

I do use DaVinci Resolve to combine my Houdini .exr files sequences with audio and export to .mov files if I want.

But it works the other way around too. I can get a series of .exr from .mov

There's other programs out there that can do the same conversion - not sure which one would suit you best.
