Generating velocity for motion blur

Hey all, I was following Rohan Dalvi's fantastic tutorial on point transformations [vimeo.com] but can't seem to get any motion blur on the particles when rendering in Octane, not sure if it works in Mantra or not.

The general idea is to use an attribute vop to move points from one shape to another. Anyone know how I generate the appropriate velocity to get motion blur to work in Octane?

I don't know about octane workflow but in mantra and Arnold you need to first calculate a velocity attribute. ( you can do this with a trail sop, set it to calculate velocity. You will need to do this regardless of the render engine as otherwise the render engine has no velocity att to work with.

Then at the obj level you need to check the box that says to use the velocity attribute from points to calculate motion blur.
