using resulting geometry in a for loop

I'm wondering if there is a way to do progressive Booleans on an object with the for loop so that the following Boolean ops use the output from the previous one. When I set up a scene with a Boolean in a for loop, it just does it on a copy of the base object so I get duplicates.
