Hi,

We just have Houdini Core but are interested in upgrading to FX.
We're evaluating the options for a potential project where we'd need an ocean to interact with multiple islands.

My question is:
Is it possible with the ocean tools (H16.5) to have multiple higher resolution areas in one and the same ocean?

To start, it could be three 50m radius poly spheres sitting in the ocean, each about 1 km apart, but it would be needed to have the ocean water ‘interact’ with the island geo to actually create reflecting waves.

Here's an example [www.videoblocks.com] - the islands would just have to be much further separated.

Any input welcome!

Thanks a lot!

Ocean Spectrum doesn’t interact with collision. However, you could mask around the islands with another spectrum to fake the reflection waves, then sim whitewater in top. Or, use Guided Ocean Layer to do a flip sim around each island, which you will need Houdini FX.
