Import 3D Camera

Hi
I 3D tracked footage in After Effects CC and exported the match-move camera to Cinema 4D R16, where I exported the 3D scene with a cube, and now I'm trying to import the scene file into Houdini 16.5. I tried FBX, Col, and Alembic, but nothing seems to work. It creates a camera but there is no camera movement/animation or any of the camera info. Houdini just creates a static camera. What am I doing wrong?

Is there a way to get my After Effects camera data into Houdini?

Or can I track the footage directly in Houdini?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Did you make sure that Camera and Animation where both checked when you imported the file?

That was indeed the problem… Thanks, Midphase.

I assume Houdini doesn't have a camera tracker, yet? It would be great to not have to use another 3D program in my pipeline, ie AE > C4D > Houdini.

Unfortunately not. We'll see what's new in H17, but I wouldn't hold my breath. The best options for tracking at the moment are AE and Fusion, or C4D and then export to FBX or ABC to Houdini.

For the other way around, FBX and BC work fine for import into Fusion or Nuke, but if you need to go to AE from Houdini I would recommend you check this out:

Creating a 3d camera tracker in Houdini sounds like a fun project to me. I am going to ask my patrons on patreon if that is a project they'd like me to start

Out of here. Being called a dick after having supported Houdini users for years is over my paygrade.
I will work for money, but NOT for "you have to provide people with free products" Indie-artists.
Good bye.
