Where is my default box?

I am using Houdini Apprentice on my Dell laptop. When I first downloaded Houdini, I would always see the default box when I launched Houdini Master. However, after using the Quick Start tutorial from the Help page, I don't see the default box when I launch a fresh scene. I'm pretty sure that I used the box to construct the rocket from the Quick Start tutorial. Could this have caused my problems? How can I get the box back? I hope I don't have to uninstall and reinstall Houdini to get it.

It's not really a problem with Houdini, it's the documentation or whatever tutorial/book you're using not being up-to-date. Houdini used to start with a default object called “geo1”, which contained a default “file” SOP, which references a box-like piece of data, but that was altered to an empty geo called “model”.
It really doesn't matter as arctor says - you can customize like mad to have Houdini start with anything you want - but for any tutorials I'm pretty sure the first thing they suggest is to delete that file SOP anyway…
Cheers,
J.C.

hi
im running through the rocket turorial that you mentioned and at the very beginning it tells youthat once you have made the tube the right size you then press tab and click on cap and then set the parameters. The problem is that i do all the steps as above but nothing happens to my tube. In the network space the cap is attached to the tube but no result in the view panel
Any ideas?
