Houdini Scatter Memory Issues

Hey guys,

i just started to play around with scattering but i'm running into memory issues very quickly. I exported a Quixel-Asset via Quixel Bridge and did not touch anything so rendered with the initial scattering on the base grid…and houdini shows me 50GB RAM in the render view…increasing the instances a bit gives me memory errors on scene generation…

How can this be with instancing? Or am i getting something wrong…?

btw using mantra with ipr options

Did you see any tutorial for instancing in Houdini?
There are tons of tutorials which will show you how to do that.

To me it sounds like the geometry that are getting scattered are not packed geometry, if you don't know what it are, look it up Important stuff.
