Houdini Mantra to Fusion / Davinci Resolve pipeline

So I have been really trying to figure out the easiest way for me to export from Houdini's Mantra to Fusion / Davinci Resolve (mainly Davinci Resolve as of right now) and have the images match. All in all, I am not tweaking too much of the Mantra node's render settings aside from min/max rays, pixel samples and stochastic transparency. It is still exporting as an .exr and the variance color space is set to ‘Gamma 2.2’. My trouble is when I am previewing the image in Mantra, it looks perfectly fine (of course haha I built it in Houdini). The image looks like so:

I am using volumes to add to the lighting and a simple shape. But the problem comes in once I import it into directly Resolve (doesn't really need color or anything). It shows up extremely dark.

And finally, thanks to seeing another forum [www.sidefx.com] post here, I learned that I can add a vfx LUT to fix the image somewhat. And it comes out like so:

So it looks a lot better but for some reason it is not showing my volumes that were rendered and I checked that they were rendered.

I am just at a loss right now and simply want to import some sequences to Davinci Resolve and Fusion and have the colors match between programs. Am I missing something when I am rendering? Any help with this would be extremely appreciated!

Part of the problem is using gamma 2.2 in houdini is wrong, and lighting to that will end up under lit. I recommend adopting an ACES color pipeline using OCIO profiles for houdini as well as any other color critical software in the pipeline.

Thank you for the insight. Do you have any articles/docs you could point me towards talking about setting up the OCIO profile in Houdini? I have read it somewhere before, tried to enable it and for some reason, I couldn't find the option in Houdini. Sorry for the newby questions but I am bound and determined to understand Houdini and Mantra (eventually Karma haha).

There's an ACES discord channel with good explanations on what it is and how to set it up on several apps: https://discord.gg/bFMU3CX [discord.gg]
