Hi everyone!

I hope you're doing well.

I'm having a bit of an issue, working on a project and trying to understand Solaris and all.à

I have a character, where I did the grooming of the hair ,added smalls hairs to the clothes in the OBJ mode. Rig is in Maya animations also.

I then transfer with SOP import my character in USD. To export and import her in my scenes... The porblem being that with Hairs and Simulations and stuff, My usd files goes up to 100go.

Is there a better approach that I don't now of? Should I just bring my character setup in every scene so i dont have to export USD?

Any ideas or tips are welcomed!

Thank you!

Disk space can certainly be an issue when attempting to export a full groom for many frames. Often times there's some kind of render time-procedural that generates the final groom on-the-fly, by interpolating between a sparser set of guide curves. There's an example scene available in the help card [www.sidefx.com] for the Houdini/Karma hair procedural that might be worth looking at.
