Here is an early posting of the Day 1 Challenge for Mardini 2024. The node of the day for March 1st is the Spiral SOP. You must use the Spiral SOP to create your image but the image doesn't have to be about the Spiral SOP.

To be eligible for the daily prizes, you must post your Day 1 images to this thread before midnight EST on March 1st. There is another thread for animation. You can enter either an Image or Animation on any one day. You can create an image one day and an animation another.

To help get you started, Moeen Sayed is creating daily node videos to teach you about the node in question. Here is his first video.

Hey everyone,this is my submission for day 1 spiral.



The notebook with spiral binding is created and shaded within houdini.
The alarm clock and lamp stand on the screen right are free models from polyhaven.com by https://www.artstation.com/jamesray [www.artstation.com] and https://www.artstation.com/KuuttiSiitonen [www.artstation.com] respectively.
The table texture is from greyscalegorilla free asset.
And hdri backdrop is from polyhaven.com hdri library.

First time joining the Mardini contest. Here's my entry for the first day, "Ice Cream" with the use of spiral SOP.

Modelled in Houdini. Textured in Substance Painter. LookDev, Lighting, Rendering in Solaris with Karma inside Houdini.

Hi,

Here we go! I was going to do a video but Mantra is very new to me. Ended up doing a cutaway sliced thing for a still image.

Loosely inspired by Leonardo da Vinci's double-helical staircase project.
