Hi SideFX Team,

I am doing some test on the Houdini 21 Otis muscle system at my work.
One thing I notice that is the sim caching speed are much slower on a the Linux machine from my work,1~2mintues/frame, comparing to my 8 year old home pc with a GTX1080 card, 30s~40s/frame. I am running the sim with the Otto muscle sim package that came with houdini21 on both cases.

I thought the reason could be the linux machine does not have a good GPU. So I ask for a machine with better graphic card, RTX A4000. But it does not improve the sim caching speed at all, still 1 to 2 minutes/frame.

Any insight that why it is caching to slow? and where I should look to trouble shoot the issue?
The Houdini version I am suing at work is 21.0.440 while I use 21.0.631 on my home pc. Could that be the reason that it is slow?

Is the GPU actually being used? You can use a tool such as nvtop to verify.

Houdini will fall back to calculating everything on the CPU if it can't access the GPU. Do you have the official Nvidia drivers installed? The open source Nouveau drivers won't work.
