So, a pro in the forum posted a rig for a lighting fixture, and it's really good!

But, the lamp head seems to have a bit of a problem—the lookat can't lock the axial rotation.

This lamp head should rotate around the blue Z-axis.

But lookat doesn't seem to have an option to lock the axis!

Thanks, everyone.

I'm afraid people might misunderstand, so let me clarify: I didn’t mean to offend the expert. I’m just using this example to ask how to lock axes in lookat—I need this feature. Thanks everyone!

Hi no worries, you didnt offend anyone
And yes it was a little bit of a oversight on my part.

The sollution is to use the A_armPolevec_ik control as the lookat for the head. That way they will always be in the same plane. I had to also set the multiik tip to not use goal rotation, so the ik drives the rotation of the tip as well. And limited the ik tip so it doesnt tilt the rotation when moving the lookat/polevector.
