hello,
In the toolutils.py module there's a function called sceneViewer. L14,15 there's this comment :
# If we don't find a scene viewer that is a current pane, look for a
# context viewer in a scene viewer context as the current tab.

Can someone tell me what is a context viewer ?

A context viewer is a view pane that will switch its type based on where you are currently navigating. If you used Houdini 8, it is just like 8's viewer.

Here are some examples of how it is different:
If you dive into a CHOP network and you've only got a scene viewer open, you won't see the contents of the CHOP network (because the scene viewer doesn't know how to view it). A context view, on the other hand, will switch its type to a Motion/Audio view and show you the contents of your CHOP network.

You can add a Context view by clicking the (+) button to the right of your tabs and selecting “Context view.”
