hello
I have a big problem to use houdini.
I use Apprentice 6.0.286 (hfs-6.0.286-linux7.tar.gz) and the installation is good.
As described in the file installation, I initialize the variables environment.
But when I launch hkey to obtain a non commercial licence. The shell say

$ source houdini_setup
The Houdini 6.0.286 environment has been initialized.
$ hkey
hkey relocation error /usr/hfs6/dsolib/libHoudiniUT.so symbol errno, version GLIBC_2.0 not defined in file libc.so.6 with link time reference
$ houdini
houdini command not found

Frankly, I doesn't understand very well what that wants to say.
On the forum, it is written that houdini doesn't work if my computer is not connected on a network. It is right?
I have a network card but I do not have a network at home. And to obtain a licence, I use my modem.
All that is complicated (I do not have a problem under Windows)

can you help me? thank you!

Redhat 9, kernel 2.4.20-9 with kde 3.1-10
Amd Athlon 1.3 Ghtz, 512 Mo Ram, Geforce 2 mx with the most recent drivers.

The Redhat 9 issue is discussed here:

Essentially you need to add:

setenv LD_ASSUME_KERNEL 2.4.1

to your environment.

As far as the network issue, I believe it's all about the network card - Houdini uses the MACADDR of a network card in order to run licensing. You'll need to have one installed.
