Pz extra image plane & matte objects

Is it expected behaviour for a matte shaded object to appear in a Pz image pass? I am using the builtin Pz option in the extra image plane of my ROP.

Hi Rob,


I believe that is the case.

You can whip together a shader with Pz as an export and use that instead.

Yep … that's what I ended having to do. Though I'm still curious as why the builtin Pz ignores any matte shaded objects … SESI?

Applying ‘matte’ to an object really is just assigning a shader to it, nothing more. That doesn't remove it from dataset that's being rendered or having it's Pz calculated…
