I am trying to figure out why the mirror capture wieghts is not working correctly in my work. Any tips on how to use this tool?
Thank you again, and again

I am trying to set up a hand rig in Houdini 8. and cannot seem to get it right. i have everything working how i would like it but when i rotate the wrist every individual digit turns too. What do you think is wrong?
Can someone point me to another post or source that may be useful or draw out the correct network for me? Ive used the 3dbuzz tutorial so far for the legs and backbone.
Thank you,
Cory

Technical Discussion » Can you convert something with many points to one?

Hi,
I have a lsystem that has many leaves. I have a particle system picking up the points on these leaves by their specific number.
Can I get a leaf to register under one point so the whole leaf can fall together? I would leave the lsystem alone but one side becomes bare first because the leaves are numbered by which ones are created first. Maybe I dont know how to use a sort properly?
Any ways can i get a geometry to register under one point… besides point instancing.
Thank you,
Cory

Hi again,
so i have an lsysem SOP hooked with a particle SOP. The particle sop is picking the leaves that were created first, basically with the lowest point number. Is there a way to randomize what it picks or randomize the point numbers themselves?
Thanks again everyone,
Cory

thanks, i will now try this method since i messed around with visibility sop (which seemed to work)
and i used particles instead of spring to the leaves wouldnt all fall at one time
For further help,
Can anyone tell me how to randomize the leaves a particle system picks from the l-system (it seems which ever leaf is created first drops first, basically lowest point value) or renumber points? any takers?
Thanks

Hello,
I want my leaves to fall from my l-system.
So I have a spring that says “Warning: invalid group (lsysJ)”. This is why it is not working
My network i minimized to have a square (polygonal four-point CIRCLE), a TRANSFORM (for scale), the L-SYSTEM with two inputs, j and k so i can have some variation in the leaves, and then spring with group lsysJ and a y-force of -1. for now until i use expressions.
the answer i hope is obvious to you, but i can't get it. I want it to be so i dont pick the leaves for a group individually.
Thank you,
Cory

Hi,
So i'm almost finished capturing my geometry and I want to know how to do facial animation. I know it has to do with bgeo files, capture, deforms and blend. So can someone give me a tutorial or tips on how to do this. I don't know how to save to bgeo, or what tools and order they should go in to start facial animation.
I know this may be a lot to ask, but I need someone to point me in the right direction or give me direct help.
(I am using Houdini 8)
Thank you,
Cory

Hello all,
What is a good screen capture program out there (preferably free)? Or how would I animate font being typed out one letter at a time (for narration purposes)?
Thank you,

Hello again,
I'm trying to route my shaders so they are not dependent on the drives I download the jpg files into. All my Jpgs for my shaders are in a school drive from the school computer (N). How do I make a file with shaders that works independently and can be transfered from drive to drive? (right now in the texture map setting i would have something like, Nground.jpg
Thanks ahead of time. Sorry if this may be too obvious.

Yeah it was pretty simple to figure out what happened. I deleted the texture I needed and I needed to fiddle around with the route specified in the String field of the Attribcreate.

Here is a file i'm working on with a train and i've put the train and smoke at the top of the network. I cannot get the particles to show up when i render. How do i apply the shader to the sprites so it shows up in the render? Sorry that i'm newer at this than most of you. It is in Houdini 7.
Thank you,
Cory
