Thanks silvina. I tried that, but it didn't work for me. Any other suggestions? The default sample rate in the fileCHOP is 30.

I am having trouble getting any sound out of CHOPs. I am running H6.0.383 on W2K. In CHOPs, I bring in a File CHOP and select my .wav file using the + beside the Channel File field in the File CHOP parameters. As soon as I Accept it, I get an error on the File CHOP in the editor that says No Channels Available. Error: Loading from stream failed (ref: (null)) File not found. The wav file itself is OK; it plays in other applications, and in fact will work in H5.5.
When I do the exact same thing in H5.5 I have no problems. I have read all of the help on the topic, with no luck. Does anyone know what the problem is? Thanks.

I now realize that the VOP Gallery Glow that I had in my hip file SHOPs palette was built previously by someone else. Guess I have to learn how to do that now.
Sorry to bother y'all with a dumb question.

Can anyone tell me how to make a light halo in H v.6.1? In H6 I used a VOP Gallery Glow SHOP. Any advice and all suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

Technical Discussion » Bones that separate from geometry.

Howdy Folks,
I am trying to animate a piece of geometry along a curve. The geometry has seven bones inside and Im using IK. The geometry has been properly captured and the bone system manipulates the geometry just fine. I changed the “path object” of the chain root and the chain goal of my bones system to follow the curve I created. Everything seems to work fine and I control the movement of my geometry by keyframing the “position” field along the curve. The problem is when I save and reload my hip file, the geometry is no longer attached to my bones. The bones are still following the curve but its as if I never captured the geo. This only seems to happen when I give the root and goal a path object. Any Suggestions?

Thanks Rudy. I was just writing to you about the Light Mask. I'll try the Vex Lit Fog for Light Beams.

I am trying to render Light Beams in H6. Basically, I want the effect of a flashlight in a darkened and slightly foggy room. In H5 I used a cone light with a circular projection map in an environment permeated by uniform fog. To get the light to illuminate the fog, I went to the Atmosphere field in the Shading tab of the light to bring up the Light Beams dialogue box, set the characteristics of the fog, disabled ZMap Image, enabled Projection Map, accepted it all, and rendered. In H6, I cannot find an Atmosphere field in the light parameters. How do I access Light Beams in H6? If anyone can help with this issue I would be most appreciative, and thanks in advance.

Well Just wanted to clear up this problem. The error I was receiving was caused by creating a CHOP network object, and then proceding into that object to handle the sounds. The Audio Panel then gets grumpy and does not allow you to select which channel you are operating in. So I deleted the CHOP network object and went directly into chops, this allowed me to pick “ch1” in the audio panel and my playback of sound was successful.
Thanks for your help.

Well we are using Windows 2000 for the os in the lab, so no problems with Linux are applicable unfortunately, I should have specified that earlier. Edward, in the audio panel, underneath the Off/TimeLine/TimeSlice/Test checkboxes, there are two drop down menus. When I select the first one, I get nothing to choose from and when I select the 2nd drop down list there is only one chop to select from and its called “Audio CHOP” Once again the error I get at the bottom of the audio panel is “Invalid Chop specified”.
Thanks for your help gentlemen.

Thanks for the hint Ed, but I did state in the first post that I do have the audio flag turned on.

I am having problems getting any sound out of chops. When following the quick start guide to getting audio running in Chops (default wave op into a default oscillator op with audio flag on). The audio panel, when switched to test (should give me a tone which oscillates up and down) displays the error “Invalid audio chop”. I can also manage to import .wav files into the graph viewport in chops yet when selecting timeline in the audio panel I receive the same error. I have tried using .aiff files as well. Can anyone point out a problem with my method thus far? Your help would be great. Thanks.
