Houdini for Realtime » Houdini Niagara Updates

Hi There

I am trying to create a looping particle animation and there seems to be a weird delay in the beginning of animation. I have reduced my data to 1 point and 10 frames and created a super simple position sampler, but the problem still presists.
In Particle Update my ‘Test Script’ just reads the position value of the particle 1 at frame 1 (the position is 0,0,0 here) and passes it on to the Houdini particle position parameter. But I have to go to approx. 0.03 on the timeline before the particle shows up.

WHAT am I not understanding here?!?

Cheers

Thank you both of you for the answers.
I ended up using the pythonexprs solution but tested out the JSON one too just to learn some more :-)
one (unrelated) question zengchen, is there a deeper meaning why you use a string parameter (
chs("json")
) instead of just directly using a string in
json_loads(chs("json"), 0);
? just curious :-)

As the title says, I am trying to use a key-value dictionary parameter to drive another parameter via an expression but I can't seem to make it work?

ch("../Parms/Dict")[ch("../Parms/Key")]

I haven't been able to find any information regarding this, I'm afraid.

Does anyone know if it is possible to add more resolutions to the Resolution dropdown on the camera?

Technical Discussion » set Active folder in the parameter view from python

Hi there

I have a problem with the parameter menu.
I use node.setParmTemplateGroup(parmGrp) to update the parameter view with a new parameter.
The new parameter is inserted after another parameter (using insertAfter()) which is nested in a folder(that is part of folder tab)and it works fine.
The problem is that when the ParmTemplateGroup is set back to my node the UI switches to the first tab, away from the folder-tab with newly added parameter.

Does anyone know how to force the parameter menu to show a specific folder? isActiveFolder() only lets me check if a folder is currently active.

Cheers

Somehow the default geometry node has turned into a digital asset and it causes major problems, because all the geometry nodes inside my other hda's are converted into this one erasing what was inside them.

Houdini Indie and Apprentice » Vellum drape seam problem

Hi

I have an odd problem with the vellum drape node.
I am trying to weld 2 groups that have been created using a fixed number sub-div curve.
The number of sub-divs have been set to 6 on both curves.
I would expect 7 connections to be made but only 5 is created, and they are weirdly distributed along the curves.
If you count the points in the mesh there are 7 on both.

The patches are made from merging several curves, that have fixed subdivisions and passing them to the Planar Patch from Curves with Resample Curves turned off.

I have no idea what I might be doing wrong here?
