Technical Discussion » how to resample a curve depending on the curvature?

i was trying to do the same thing, problem with this last method is that there is no local control. The curve gets refined the same way across the whole curve no matter the rate of change in direction. same thing with the facet sop. i think a more complicated approach is needed to make this more precise. maybe features should be grouped at first and then refined?

hello,
ia have a bunch of primitives i want to reconnect according to a class attribute from the connectivity sop, but when i use the add sop they get connected randomly and not according to their point number. Anyone knows whats going on?

thanks for replying!i see your point, but i was actually trying to measure the volume of the resulting blobs. sometimes there are smaller blobs (closed shapes) floating around the base blob. how can you measure their volume? or even if its just one blob, how can you tell houdini to look at this blob as a whole and not 8000 individual primitives?
i hope this makes sense.

i 've made a metaball from scattered points and the resulting blobs after converting the metaball are not primitives but each polygon is a primitive in itself. I want to join these primitives according to the blob they belong to so that i can measure the volume of each resulted blob.
how can i go about doing that?
thanks!!

Hello,

Thanks

Technical Discussion » Join node reverses normals

Hello,
i have two curve segments that i join into one, but whenever i change a size parameter, then point number around the curve changes and all normals get reversed.
In the attached image you can see an attribute delete no de before the join, everything works fine until there, no changes whatsoever. it breaks when the curves are joined.

thank you for replying, it worked ofcourse!
could i do this through vops?
is there any other way
i tried to copy the value of the attribute (from the attribute create node) as a parameter and paste relative references to the tube radius but it didnt work for some reason
thanks again!
Philip
ps : i dont understand exactly what is prim(“../attribcreate1”,0,“sizeZ”,0) where can i look into it?

Hello,
i am new to houdini coming from cinema 4d xpresso and Rhinos Grasshopper…its a steep learning curve i must say.
i am trying to do one simple thing, reference a custom attribute i created to drive my primitive tube radius that i create later on in my node tree.
i have already tried @sizeZ (sizeZ being my attribute's name) but with no success
i also thought primitive vops would do it but i found no way to manipulate the tube's values from inside the vop. (any tips here would be greatly appreciated)
How should i go about doing that?
Thanks
Philip
