I am trying to export out alembic animations from frames generated earlier in the process.
I tried partitioning the frames into a single work item and then using the alembic rop node as well as a rop fetch but have only been able to get the first frame to export so far.

I have a python node pressing the render to disk button on a gltf rop. In tops the export works only when I preview a work item. Am I doing this wrong and or is there a command to preview each workitem?

I am trying to make something to find out if polys in a model can be seen so I can remove deep undercuts. My has been to shoot rays in a bunch of of direction and if any = 0 I know they can be seen. my problem is that I can figure out how to to add points to a group/or change the color overtime without overwriting the whole set.
if there is a simpler/better way to do this I would be grateful to hear it.

hey thank you all for responding.
I actually got it to work. I just needed to offset the normal.

I want to check to find any thin parts on a mesh. I figured I could do this by shooting rays in the reverse of their normals but it doesnt seem to be working right.
I tried first in vex but kept getting -1 value on hit distance. I then used a ray sop but the results look off.

I made a group to color anything that hits under x amount red and it seems to almost work but if the results were right then the face on the other side should also be red.
I am not sure if I am going about this all wrong or if its just something simple.

Konstantin Magnus youre amazing cant thank you enough!
Olaf Finkbeiner, it was more the task that brought me to houdini but now that I have seen its potential I am definitely going to dive in to learning it. I just have a problem that needs to solved first

I am new to houdini so I will say what I am trying to do first incase there is a much easier way to go about it.
My goal is take a stack of black and white bitmaps and use them to make a voxel model, each one acting as a layer of the model.
my plan was to use a grid into a copy node and mask off points on the grid using the bitmaps. But I cant figure out how to get it to work or similar examples.
then figure out how to set a for loop for the folder of images, which is probably more challenging than I am expecting as well.
any help or advise would be greatly appreciated thank you!
