As the title says, is there a way to get either the hwnd of a paneTab or maybe the WindowId of the QtWidget of the paneTab in python (more OS agnostic probably).

Awesome.I will try this as soon as possible. A backport would be nice. It would allow us to support H15.5 also. We built this tool to help us visualise the end result in the device while still making image tweaks. It will be available soon.

Hi Daniel,
It looks like there currently isn't a way to access the entire RGBA image with a single hou method. I've created an RFE to add one (RFE #82333), and will see if I can implement it this week.

Awesome Taylor. Will it work with any of the image planes in RenderView or just the Color? This is related to something we are working on

Hi guys,
I was working in a python tool that grabs the IPR aka RenderView, at regular intervals in a different thread, but it takes quite a long time since I need to build a byte buffer scanning each pixel. Isn't there any python method in the hou module for this, that either returns a rgba buffer or at least can save the current render view to a file?
Cheers,
Daniel

We use the QT main thread event loop to receive and process messages from the network, but maybe we can change it to use hou.ui.addEventLoopCallback(). Nyx is a bit complex, it as a lot of threading going under the hood.
Houdini Lounge » Houdini in comparision to 3ds Max?

We also started shifting to Houdini some time now, and the experience is been great. I have used 3ds Max professionally in ArchViz and Comercials for the past 15 years as the main tool, but there is a time that we just need more and with Houdini we can achieve that without spending thousands of euros in extra plugins, and everything works with everything. We created a group in Facebook for Max users that are interested in learning Houdini, so we can share our experiences and help transition to Houdini.

Houdini Indie and Apprentice » Distribute points (randomly) in a mesh with an increase in density towards the center (Points from Volume)

You can put a isooffset to convert the geometry to a volume and then scatter works. As for the density effect you could after the scatter node blast some points based on the distance.
