@DJ, I looked at those stories already, I need fluid specific, and it's just hard to find anything. But I'll google those movies to see if I can dig up anything.
@Peter, thanks for the suggestions, I was able to find something. I was really surprised to not been able to find any case study or paper on Houdini fluids in movies. I would think that this is a big topic. Hopefully there will be more soon, especially with the new movies.

Hi, I'm working on a report for school, researching on Houdini fluids used in movies comparing to Realflow used in movies. So far, it's been difficult to find anything on Houdini fluids in movies. Does anyone know any papers, making ofs? I'd really appreciate any help.

I'm not sure how to correctly implement it. I've uploaded my file. some parts seems to be on the right track, but it's not working correctly. Can you take a look and see what I'm doing wrong? I'm pretty new to fluid.

The example file is different from what I want to achieve. However, in the example file, the pop network is broken when I go inside of it. It would work when i first open the file, but then it stops working when I click into the nodes. I followed that example and did the same thing, it worked half way, then it stopped working. In general, I need to have geometry and pop network inside the dop network in order to get it to work, right?

I've been having problems getting POP net to control the fluid movement. I followed the Houdini example file for the flowPop, and it doesn't work for me. Can someone point me to the right direction on how to use POP net to control the fluid simulations?
Technical Discussion » Bird wing rigging

Hi, thanks for the response. I was able to find a lot of bird wing rigging tutorial on 3ds max and maya, but nothing on houdini. I did do some tests, and IK on the wing does give me problems. I found this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CaoypChuU1U, [youtube.com] and we are trying to achieve something similar. I am able to rig it, probably not the best, correct rig, but it's workable. However, I'm not sure how to paint weights, etc in Houdini.

Hi, I am having some trouble with rigging bird wings that have to fold. I don't have any problem with rigging wings that are just open. This is for a school group project. I'm not sure where to use IK/FK. Any help is appreciated.
Technical Discussion » Branch new bone

I thought I continue to post here because I have the same problem with adding a new bone. I ctrl left click with the “bones” tool and click on the bone to draw another bone from, and it would just create a complete new root bone. I tried ctrl middle click to parent bone, and it would be in edit mode as well. Then Houdini crashes every time when I draw new bones. Can someone help? This is really frustrating. I never had that problem back in Houdini 8

thanks for all the help. I saw a dell with ATI Radeon 3650, would that work? It's around $1000, even better for my budget. But I did hear that ATI video cards are not as good as Nvidia for Houdini, is it true?

Thanks for that info. What about 9300m gs? I saw that it is on the lower end, but there is a laptop that's under $1200 (around my budget) has that spec, would that work?

I know this question has probably been asked numerous times, but I really need some advice. I understand that Nvidia works great with Houdini, but this spec on the laptop has really confused me:
* Chipset : Intel® PM965 Express Chipset
* Interface : VGA and S-Video Out with Smart Display Sensor
* Processor : NVIDIA® GeForce® 8400M GT GPU with 1023MB Total Available Graphics Memory11
* Video RAM : 256MB dedicated video memory
Now, does having an Intel chipset means that the real video card is still Intel? I've seen other laptop with the same processor did not include the chipset information, so I want to make sure that if it says Nvidia is the video card, Nvidia is the video card used and not Intel. Thanks to anyone in advanced.
