Like you I am accustomed to modeling in Maya. However, I am planning to move to Houdini as fast as I am able. Your question and post led me to look for answers as well and I found this tip reference video. Even though I have not viewed all the tips, I think this is very illuminating. https://youtu.be/8oKBoVYn6R4?t=565 [youtu.be]

I am beginning to learn Pyro FX in Houdini using the latest version update with 17. As a resource for learning I was trying to utilize https://app.pluralsight.com/library/courses/introduction-houdini-pyro-2504/table-of-contents [app.pluralsight.com] <== This tutorial uses version 15.5 I have included a screen shot as an example of a problem I am encountering. From my very limited knowledge base it appears that there a some fundamental differences that I can not find away around. At the superficial level of the interface, the tabs and setting that accompany some of them in version 15.5 are totally absent in the corresponding area in 17.
Question: Are there any good resource for learning Pyro FX in 17 yet?
I have a pretty good understanding of Houdini's interface, but have been unable to find the various values or tabs in a different place in Houdini 17 to allow me to continue with this tutorial. I actually have a need to pursue Pyro FX in Houdini but need to find a path.
Question: Any helpful suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You!

Hi I am new to Houdini and am currently following a tutorial that utilizes the Mantra Surface Shader.
I have had to stop because I can not find it in the Material Palette and I have not been able to find a way to add it to my material palette to resume the tutorial. I am running Houdini Indie Limited Commercial 16.5.571 on Windows 10. I have enclosed a screen shot of the current state of the Material Palette in my version.
Questions: 1. Is it possible to add this shader to the Material Palette in this version of Houdini?
2. If yes to the above would someone please specify the steps to complete this task.
Thank You,
D
