I've managed to find a solution. But now i face another obstacle.
I want to create a bulge in the center of my galaxy in the Y direction with vops, i did everything the same as it is in the tutorial but it's not working for some reason. Could anyone check out the file and tell me what could be wrong?
Desired result is in the screenshot.
Many thanks,
Jake

Scatter 2.0 in H14 has some relax options, so that's why it looks so different. They're toward the bottom of the parameter window.
Does turning that off do what you expected?
It's already turned off, so no, that unfortunately isn't the case.
I'll try to explain what i want more precisely. I want the points to bunch in the center and then fade off towards the edge. Imagine an image of a galaxy, the stars are bunched together in the center and then there are less and less stars towards the edges. (Here's an example: http://wallforu.com/wp-content/uploads/Galaxy-Widescreen-HD-Wallpaper.jpg [wallforu.com] )

Never mind that question, i figured i out in VOPs.
But i do have another question. Why does he get a nice bunch of points in the center of a polygon circle when he uses a scatter node and i get a quite uniform distribution. How can i create that nice core?
Many thanks,
Jake

Hello,
I'm following an older tutorial I bought from cmiVFX where you're creating a spiral galaxy. Mostly it's particles and since the old system was completely changed it's quite confusing.
I'm wondering what replaced the orbit node or at least how could I recreate it in the new particle system.
Many thanks,
Jake

Houdini Indie and Apprentice » UV selection problem

Hello,
I'm following the intro tutorials and i'm in module 8, which is UVs and Materials.
Currently i'm having issues with uv vertices selection in the UV layout.
I want to select only the top vertices of the geometry but it keeps selecting the whole thing.
Even though i have Select front facing only option on and Select groups or connected geometry off.
I'm assuming because i'm in version 14 and the tutorial was done in houdini 12.
Is there any new way to do this in current version or am i doing something wrong?
Edit:
I've also noticed that UV brush doesen't work in UV view, only in perspective view.
Many thanks,
Jake

Hello, i'm having this issue with animation editor when using an expression to drive some animation. It sort of disconnects the curve.
I'm using a sin expression at second frame
bezier() * sin($F*60)
I've attached a screen shot.
Many thanks,
Jake

Technical Discussion » Houdini lattice tool problem

Hello
I'm new to Houdini and i'm going through the intro tutorials from SideFX's official site.
I've got a problem when i use the lattice tool to deform a spiral line. It messes it up real bad.
What i'm trying to achieve is to taper off the top and bottom of the spiral. In the tut he uses lattice tool. I've done everything exactly the same as he did.
I've attached screenshots and i'm hoping someone could help me solve this.
Many thanks,
Jake
