Yeah that's a good idea, hey thanks Enivob.

Houdini Lounge » Collaboration for fantasy short (some pay)?

Hi everyone, i'm fairly new to the forum, but have used Houdini off and on now for awhile, yet where i live it's like impossible finding good 3d talent, or anything related to digital art for that matter, so i'm turning to the net for online collaboration (don't ask me where i live - i'm too embarrassed to say. Hint: it's in hicksville usa, population 6, made up of mostly deer hunters and retired folk). I'm working on an ‘end of the world’ indie short consisting mostly of creature characters and fantasy terrains (large locusts with faces of men and tails like scorpions; that sort of thing). This will be a top notch short so it may take awhile, but i'm willing to pay, especially if you're good and proficient at 3d production. I can only afford so much though - that's why i'm requesting it be a collaborative endeavor instead of a freelancing one. We could always make this a ‘hybrid’ relationship (ie. both collaborative and for pay), but it's up to you. Having worked in the music industry most of my life and that with some of the best in the industry, i'll probably incorporate it in as well in hopes that i can pull upon some past strings in order to help make it fly. Let me know if your interested and be sure to post a link to any material/demo reel you may have online and i'll be sure to get back to you asap. Thanks for your interest..

I see. Well at least i now know it definitely doesn't support it…..on the ‘left-hand side’ that is . Hopefully speaking, it's good news they're going to implement it soon . Maybe 16.5 will have both the features we're wanting. I use Zbrush too so i hear ya dude. I think i'll even fill out a feature request form. Thanks for the reply McNistor.

Hi all, after 2 years of ‘playing’ with Blender, which is no doubt great software ‘for free’, and viewing the Amarok promo video, i decided to take it for a spin and WOW, i had to scrape my jaw off the floor with a spatula . The difference between the two is mind-numbing. I tested v11 or 12 out years ago but i was a newb so…
The question i have is a simple one: Blender has the same ‘zoom to mouse position’ feature in it's viewport as H does in it's network editor (you know, where the nodes/objects zoom in and out wherever you place your mouse pointer). Well, is there a way to have H do the same in the viewport area just as it does in it's network area? This was one feature i became SO accustomed to when working with objects in Blender. Since Houdini has this in the network editor, i wonder why the devs didn't implement it in the viewport? I'm constantly zooming in, middle mouse moving up or down, zooming in again, middle mouse moving up or…. well you get the picture. Space+G is a good alternative, but the other just seems to give me so much definitive control. Is there's a python script someone could point me too? No biggie, it's minor compared to the majors Houdini offers. After getting a taste of H16 there's no turning back and i hope to master it asap so i can give back to the forum as much as i gain from it. Thanks everyone, it's good to be here.

Hi, yeah, i just wanted to know if 12.5 is a free upgrade from v12.
I bought Apprentice HD v12 a few months ago and now, after running 12.5, it's showing it as being “Houdini FX” (non-comm), instead of ‘Apprentice HD’ (non-comm). Thanks for any help - i'm sure others are having similar problems with the weird way the ‘dual option’ installer works.

Hey Awal, you said Houdini has far less tutorials as the others. Would you say that includes messiahStudio?
After 20+ yrs, shifting away from the audio world, to learn 3D in a ‘new’ way with music, i'm having a hard time deciding on either Houdini or pmg's messiahStudio to do the job. And after i've learned one, i don't want to stop to learn the other. I've already purchased AND test driven both apps and only got 1-2 replies at the messiahStudio forum upon asking this question - so you guys won't think this is a “lazy question”. Thanks man!!
