Hey all,
I want to simulate a shift lens with houdini's camera. This means in a
nutshell I want to manipulate the picture plane separately from
the lens plane.
I thought, I remember from the v4 or v5 days that houdini already
can do that out of the box. But it seems, that I can't find the appropriate
parameters.
I already checked out the docs and the rendering paramters.
No luck so far.
Any hints much appreciated
Cheers,
Marc

Forgot to mention that I already know that I can go this route:
houdini->collada->photoshop->u3d
I am asking for an alternative that may give better results.

Hi,
for a basic inbtroduction have a look at http://www.3dbuzz.com [3dbuzz.com]
They got their houdini fundamentals free as a series of streaming videos, covering quite a lot of houdini.
Amongst other basic aspects, working with nodes (operators) is explained very well, imho. It's a good start. After that I recommend you to check out their “houdini fastrack”, a course that explains many of houdini's aspects based on a complete short movie project.
And: have a look at the “learning roadmap” by Sesi. You can find it inside the “learning” menu on this website…
Hope that helps.

And if the sequence of files is numbered with leading zeros,
be sure to have a look at the padzero()-function.
You can use it inside the backticks.

Hi,
I wonder if anybody is willing to share some experience how well
you can integrate animated poser characters into houdini, nowadays.
Some time ago I had no luck going with dazStudio to houdini via
fbx or collada. There where so many issues, that required to much
reworking everytime the poser animation was changed..
Since Poser Pro 2010 supports “full collada support”, has anything changed?
Right now, I am using the obj-format. So I have to redo all texturing
and uv-assignement manually. I'd love to hear a conversion path
that's just working without these additional steps.

I got a HP Compaq 8710p with nvidia Quadro NVS 320 M.
I used H9 to H10 with zero display problems.
(WinXP 32Bit, Linux Ubuntu 64 Bit, Win7 64Bit)
Performance wise it is enough for my needs.
