thanks a lot, i'll give it a try tomorrow!
i believe it'll be a little rough since i've never done VEX scripting before, but let's see if i can get a little introduction somewhere …
i'll give you an update on my efforts,
have a good time

thing is, i hardly create the nodes via viewport or the shelf, mostly directly in my networkview with the tab key. that's a very fast way to work, the only thing that bothers me is to permanently have to switch the display flag >.<
Doing it with a script brings exactly the problems you mentioned so i'd rather leave it as it is … ?!

creating a circle and reducing its divisions does the trick.
Although i would have like control over angles and side length of the triangle.
Is such a thing possible?

hi there,
is it possible to create an equilateral triangle with expressions and calculate it's center point? I read there is this hou.hmath module, unfortunately I have no idea of the VEX script language :?

hi there,
i was wondering if it is possible in houdini to do an if expression with
2 first arguments, something like
if( $TX> 2 and $CR>.5, 1, 0)
is this possible?? If it is, there must also be a way to do the same thing with “or” instead of “and” ?
best regards,
Manuel

hi everyone!
i've got a rendering issue, you can see my problem in the “testrender.jpg” image, that i attached to this post (there's also a hipfile) - There is this white dotted line in between the gray areas and it shouldn't be there!
I've checked my VOP Network of the shader a thousand times, all my nodes are placed correctly, it must be some kind of bug.
it's not a problem of my mantra sampling, i already increased the pixel samples and the problem's still there.
Also i updated to the latest Houdini Apprentice Version, doesn't cut out the mistake.
My system:
Windows XP 64bit,
Houdini Apprentice 10.0.430
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz
8190 MB RAM
DirectX Version 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
NVIDIA Geforce GT (GS) 1024MB
(Driver Version: 6.14.11.9062 , driver date: 17.08.2009)
Now it would be great if somebody could help me, i already reported a bug but i need to get rid of this immediately

if you create your own variables with an attribute create SOP,
like “myvariable” you can middlemouse click on your SOP and
you will see this:
Custom Variable Mappings:
myvariable -> MYVARIABLE
and regarding the $LIFE variable, that is something that really is in the help!
maybe you should also have a look at the standard variables sheet of the help file, i find it very useful!

try the help
each SOP has an appendant help page where the local variables are listed, if there are any.
