Hi
here's a self made flipbook rop its sort of outdated, but has few advantages versus opengl rop.
opengl rop doesnt default to black background, it renders everything in flip book “beauty” mode which sadly doesn't display transparent surfaces, but it saves alpha(and if i'm not mistaken floating point as well) so you can composite rendered result with any background you like

Wow, that's amazing
Thanks for sharing,
regarding mantra node - doesn't this way of setup suppress future new parameters of mantra?
Not sure if its a better way(there is probably way better one, that doesnt involve shelf), but seems like dropping modified mantra node into a shelf and making it available through tab menu seems to do the job as well an hopefully will inherit future changes for mantra node?
I've tried to do the permanent preset and delete the unnecessary parameters. So that it would override only the ones that are needed, but it doesn't work with spare parameters.
oh and do you think you could share the previz scene as well? would be really awesome

Hi,
not sure, but gluetoanimation / pintoanimation should work, maybe in combination with sop solver to store desired position or maybe a simple sop network would suffice.

As far as i know, you cant import any particles into maya with alembic, even the ones you've just exported from maya itself

or you can define variable i.e. $SHOT (Edit>Aliases And Variables…) and set all of your paths to :
${HIP}/Textures/${SHOT}/texture.ext
and just change $SHOT variable according to your needs

in display options > markers
you can create/set up custom attributes to be displayed
these settings should be saved in hip file so just enable them

it isn't supposed to fix point order, it should give you 2 vectors in desired directions

Yes, partition sop separates geometry based on rules, in your case each face to its own group.
In for each you already have “per primitive/point”, so it doesn't use groups created with partition sop at all.
Also after “for each” you get 4 points in 1 spot since it doesn't fuse them back.
Example of a mesh would be really great (50 faces? ). Without it its like walking in the dark . With all that said, here are some attempts which hopefully will solve your problem.
I've stored vectors in question as tangentu and tangentv attributes.

Hi, Chris_TC,
could you maybe share that mesh (or a part of it)? hip is always welcome too

Julian Johnson
I really wanted a node in the VOP to get the lowest y value of all the points after they had been rotated and it seems clunky to have exit the VOP to promote and demote the attribute to do so.
Hi, Julian,
in your case you can you replace it(radius promotion) with
“bounding box” vop + “get vector component” vop. And stay inside vops
And it gives ~30%-35% speedup.
P.S. thanks for sharing the hip

what I've learnt over the years - sharing your hip file (or simplified version of it) is a great way to get fast help

Sweet
had made something similar for soup bubbles few moths ago, but discarded it as failed test apparently should have continued in that direction
thanks!!

It's a good idea, but you need some sort of automation for that.
$HIP gets defined every time you open up a .hip
$JOB doesn't
So for a new user $HIP is safer
