I'll give it a shot and let you know. But, shouldn't I be going up in version rather than back?
Thanks for the advice

I'm not sure if I'm just being dumb here but I want to make sure,
(a) Models can be imported from other packages but the final animation and rendering must be completed in Houdini.
Does the above clause mean even the compositing must be done in Houdini or can it be done in an external app, just clarifying.

Hi all, I'm having some major stability issues running Apprentice HD. It doesn't crash or give me any errors it just hangs and have to force quit. I can't pin point when it occurs as it's a bit all over the place at this stage.
If any one has any advice I'd really like to try implement it before getting onto the Apprentice challenge.
I'm running an:
HP 8710W Laptop
Windows XP sp2
4Gig Ram
100Gig HD
Nvidia QuadroFX 1600M
Houdini Apprentice HD 9.5.350
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance

Heya, I'm by no means a pro in Houdini yet so I might be wrong, but i got volumetric lights by:
1. Add a “spot light” and an “atmosphere” object to your scene.
2. drop a “VEX Lit Fog” in your shop network.
3. Go back to your scene and select the “atmosphere” object, under the material tab select the “VEX Lit Fog” shader.
4. Render
As I said, not sure if this is 100% the way to do it so if any of the pros are keen to correct, by all means.

Hey all, just got Apprentice HD and ordered quite a bit of training from both DT and 3Dbuzz so I'm looking forward to jumping in headfirst.
I've done some tuts and so far it feels and works really nicely.
I'm coming from C4D and it feels like the two kind of have the same work flow and interface, which I'm really glad about.
Any ways, I just wanted to know if this is the best forum for Houdini to hang around or are there other ones I should be aware of?
Cool, thanks.
