Hello,
I am unable to record vel field from a smoke sim correctly.
The vel field stay blank even if teh smoke react as expected.
If I add some noise on th vel field with the fluidsource node, only this noise is visible in the output vel field.
Can you ,please check my hip file ?
I only want to advect some particles …
Thanks for your help,
Vincent
P.S. : I use the 15.5.607 version

Hi Mathias,
It's not what I want to know.
Let's say I want to know if the python open() function and python seek and read method , has any equivalent in VEX.
Didn't know about .json. Thanks for the tip anyway !

Hello,
Working on a project some renders have error in some pixels .
It's some squares of 2x2 pixels. When I inspect the color, it return “-nan (ind)”
Apparently, it comes fom the indirect reflection, since; with th beauty, this is the image plane where I cant see theses undefined pixels.
How itcould come from ?
Thanks for your help.

Hello,
I made a COP hda that will be the core of another hda.
I didn't realize that when I started to developpe it and the core is written as .hda file in my otl folder.
Is there a way to create a .otl library containing the core hda and the high level hda together ?
Thanks for your help

I read the vex code generated again and again.
And it works now :
I don't use @pid anymore since the vex code declare it as float.
I use i@pid instead forcing vex to declare pid at integer.
No more conflict !

New question !
I am now trying to reproduce my cube shape distribution with a Point Replicate Procedural.
But my code return an error :
pid redeclared with different type float previously declared as int (48,1)
I joint the screenshot of my little setup.
What did I forget to make it to work as the snippet in SOP level ?

Hello,
I am trying to understand the difference and relation between wrangle and snippet.
I have 1000 points at {0,0,0} and I want to organize them in cube shape (10x10x10).
I wrote this code in point wrangle SOp:
int i, j, k;
i=0;
j=0;
k=0;
for ( k; k<11; k++){
for ( j; j<11; j++){
for ( i; i<11; i++){
@P.z = @ptnum%10;
}
@P.x = (@ptnum/10)%10;
}
@P.y @ptnum/100)%10;
}
It works as excepted even If I assume it should better way to do this.
When I paste it to a Snippet VOP inside an Attribute VOP, it gives me an error if the Global Parameters node is present :
Read only expression for read/write parameter. (1,35)
When I erase the Gobal Parameters node, the error disappear but the code doesn't seems to do anything ( all points remains at {0,0,0}).
I don't understand this behavior inside the snippet in my VOP.
I would like to make my snippet to work exactly like the wrangle. How can I do that ?
Thanks for your help,
Vincent
PS : well … I just see the smiley.
I add space in the code and it works

Thanks for your reply.
I watched your hip file but its not what I have in mind.
I made a new hip file which (I hope)will allows you to understand better what i try to achieve.
I copy some circles with the point of the green curve, scaled by the distance between the points of this curve and the points of the red one.
I would like the red points to rotate on the axis create by the N attribute of the matching green points ( the tangents of the green curve ).

Hello,
I have some curves create from a trail sop.
I made another one which represents the average position of the first trail curves.
My problem is I need to twist the trail along the average curve but I have no clue how to do that.
I am far to be a math guru and I see matrices coming …
I add a little hip with 2 curve and some mess.
Thanks for your help,
Vincent

Hello,
I would like to know a way to make no linear retiming on particle simulation and points animations. The point count remains the same.
I tried the timewarp node but I get some strobing when I use it.

Strange … I didn't recieve mail to warn about your post Yash Polke .
I can't check your file right now. But I attempted something myself.
I use points and use an expression to read their attributes to DOP using $OBJID to run through the points.
it allows me to make a group which I use in an Active node.
Is it the same thing in your hip ?

Hello
I need to cache on disk a geometry , source of a flip. the dop has 2 substeps, so I used the substeps option of filecache SOP set to 2(with $FF variable on the name).
But it seems the DOP doesn't read the file properly. in SOP everything looks fine but in DOP there is no source. Only the 1st frame emit something and then .. nothing.
Any Clue ?
Thanks for your help.

Technical Discussion » color bleeding : spreading from RBD to FLIP
- vbk!!!

Hello Hello !
I would like to transfert the color of a rbd to a flip.
I would ike the color of the rbd pieces to spread through th flip particles.
I use a sopsolver for that.
If a can transfer the color from the rbd to the particles, the spreading effect is still an issue : the color doesn't loose intensity when it spreads through the liquid ….
What I am looking for is a nice gradient growing from particles to particles but the only thing I obtain for now are sharp stains.
Thanks for your help
