Ah, this is fantastic. Thank you very much. I can apply independent transforms via the isolated tires, and this command makes it much simpler. Thanks!

Trying to rotate four tires at the SOP level. Is there a way to automatically move the Centroid to the central point of a specified mesh at SOP level? It keeps returning to World Center, I have four tires isolated by group and would like to apply Transforms to each tire.
If there is a better way to approach this all advice is appreciated!

Wow Michael, thank you very much. I can't claim credit for creating the model, it comes from a creative commons site. I appreciate it a lot, this will really help in my understanding of rigging methodology!

Houdini Indie and Apprentice » AutoRig Knee Twist Problem

I have posted similar questions re: this issue before but no answers received yet have unlocked this problem for me. I am trying to get comfortable with the AutoRig system, and all of the joints and control nulls work fine, but the knee is constantly defeating me. Here you see when I raise the foot up in +Y The knee twists out in an exaggerated bow-legged stance.
When I rotate the Hip affector to fix the imbalance, it works, the knee now moves up and down in IK correctly, but the knee is then distorted in shape as you see in the second pic.
I cannot for the life of me figure out where I go wrong in this. Any help would be appreciated. I have watched several of Michael's tutorials on this but the AutoRig tutorial has no sections on fixing this.
I really wish Houdini would create a tutorial to deal with Issues in the AutoRig. Its a great tool but some more detailed instruction in its use,a s pertains with fixing Rigs that are not quite working yet would be appreciated.

I have a test project for RBD simulation and I'm happy with everything, except the Box being smashed into moves around before being impacted by the Sphere.
How may I adjust my RBD setting so the Box is immobile before it is impacted? Thank you.

I have a Robot Arm Setup to Rotate with Four Parented Transforms- One for the main Arm, and three more to animate the Upper arm and fingers.
Whenever I animate the Main Arm, to which all the Others are parented, the Axis point of the Three Upper Transforms does not follow, it stays in its original position.
How do i get the Axis Point of a Transform Node to animate relative to a Parent Transform Node?

Technical Discussion » Convert 3D Noise for 2D Use

I have a 3D Noise element driving a Bump map, how do I get it to work in 2D as a Bump Texture Map? Right now the asset renders and you can see the Noise moving in 3D space.
The asset is UV'd and I can use a 2D texture map and get an adequate bump look from that, but I would like to be able to keep the texture procedural by using Noise generated within Houdini.
Thanks!

Im using a 3D based Procedural Noise shader (Redshift RS Noise) and trying to use it to drive a Bump Mapping on a Mesh. I need to create a Vertex Attribute and copy the UV data onto that. Ive tried Copy Attribute and various other nodes but cant get the data to flow correctly in. Im using Spreadsheet to visually confirm the custom made Attribute has no data in it.
What is the workflow for this?

Houdini Indie and Apprentice » Adjusting Capture Weights

Have built a decent rig for this Bat Model but cannot figure out how to adjust the capture weights once the Mesh is captured onto the Bone Hierarchy.
Whenever I select the “Edit Capture Weights” tool it keeps saying I have no selected Captured Geometry, but I do have my mesh selected. I just want to adjust the Weights of my rig to get a better animation result. This was very easy in Maya.

I'm having a huge amount of difficulty wrapping my head around this. The rig I have built here should be working, but its not. The Leg bends to the left instead of going up and forward when I raise the foot, and lowering the creature at the hip in Negative Y creates this very warped effect, and does not bring the character down into a bend at all.
Clearly I am doing something wrong but i cant figure out what. Trying to learn rigging in Houdini is proving very frustrating, I've done this before in Maya but having no luck here. I want to make this work but if I cant I will have to seitch back to Maya. Any help greatly appreciated.
