That build break should have been fixed in 15.5.566 (which is probably equivalent to your local fix). So either update or keep your local change.

Try today's build (15.5.564). You'll need to redo your curves (if broken) and resave the scene.

You seem to have a full commercial license of Houdini (or Houdini Engine) as well as the Indie license. When you have both on the same machine, the engine will always pick the full commercial one. In this case, since full commercial licenses don't allow indie assets to be loaded, you can't load your indie-created asset.
Try returning the full commercial license by launching our License Administrator, right clicking on the license, and returning it.

Alembic will be your best bet in the short to medium term, at least. Houdini Engine does not run at runtime because that would require shipping all of Houdini with your game. Even if you did change parameters in the Editor's sequencer, none of that will work once you compile and package your game at the moment.

Then I'm afraid that's why your asset doesn't work. There should be a message pop-up about this when you try to put down the asset but either way, Houdini Engine does not support non-commercial assets - those created by Apprentice. You will need to purchase at least the Houdini Indie license in order to create assets that work with Houdini Engine.

The Unreal plugin has a new input type called “World Outliner Input”. With this, you can input multiple Actors from the scene into a single input on the asset. What this does in Houdini is create a Merge SOP that puts together all the input meshes from the input Actors and passes it to the asset's input.
Knowing this, you can go back up the input to the asset and find the list of input meshes (which are in their own OBJ nodes) and get their transforms.

Houdini now has both expandable sections (like your screenshot) and tabs. We needed to recreate both, especially tabs. Since it's not trivial to create tabs within the Details panel we opted for buttons for now.

What's the latest version of Houdini you've tried? Did you make sure to update your Unity project with the latest Houdini Engine plugin?

- Did you set the “End Time” to something other than the default “1”?
- Did you see the progress bar baking all the animation frames?
- Did you see a warning in the Unity Console saying something like: “AnimationClip needs to be set as Legacy”? If you saw this, you need to update the plugin to a Houdini build newer than 15.5.545.

They should also work. If you have a test character its worth trying blend shapes in UE4 as well. Just make sure to use an a recent version of Houdini.

Well, you can't assign material overrides per instance, only per polygon of a regular mesh (which can itself be instanced).
To do that, you use the “unity_material” primitive attribute and give it the path to the Unity material (can be a Substance as well), including the material's file extension (which is not visible by default in the Unity Project pane). If your materials are in the special Resources folder (any old folder named exactly “Resources”), you can just provide the material name (no file extension) in your attribute.
Unity still has an additional limitation that each assignment of materials to a set of polygons should have a corresponding primitive group. Ideally, the only groups you have on the display SOP geometry are those corresponding to material assignments and are mutually exclusive.

How did you install the Houdini Engine plugin for UE4?
Try removing this folder (the HoudiniEngine folder):
C:\Program Files (x86)\Epic Games\4.12\Engine\Plugins\Runtime\HoudiniEngine
And copying it back from:
C:\Program Files\Side Effects Software\Houdini 15.5.522\engine\unreal\4.12
– where you replace 15.5.522 with your version of Houdini.
