Hello,
I have an effect to achieve that includes several steps.
1- render flip sim particles
2- render volume create from the pre rendered flip sim.
3- render pop sim particles using the pe rendered volume.
4- render images from flip particles
5- render images from pop particles
there is different frame range for each of theses renders.
What is the best ropnet setup to renders all of theses operations above in that specific order and tell the ropnet to finish one task/node before to start a new one ?
For now I have 3 geometry ROP and 2 images ROP in a ropnet.
I take the “geometry1” (flip) and link as input the “geometry2”(volume) and so on …
Then I tell the render control of the “geometry1” to use the “node by node” option and set speciifc frame range ( strict) for each node.
is it good ?

hmm …
i may have a new request.
What should the way to add some noise on this vector field. Nut the vector should stay “sticking” on the mesh.
In my mind, the new orientation of the vectors should be dependent of the normal of the mesh but i can't see how to constuct something with … let say a turbulence noise.

Hello,
Let say I have a mesh of a mountain landscape.
I would like to calculate the direction of the slope as a vector.
I tried to loop trough the neighbours (NbP) of each point. Test if theses NbP are under or above the specified point ( compare Y position ). If the NbP are under the point the goal is to calculate the average difference between the point and the NbP as a vector.
First of all : I am not sure if the system is good or not.
i made a hip file to try the system but the result are just … unexpected !
Could you please tell if i am on the right track and what happen to my hip.

I just tried the “rgb_diffraction.hipnc” provide by Etuu;
The render with my houdini version is very diferent with lot of black part.
Is it Happen to aswell ?

I need a reminder or something …
I create a ball and to spotlights.
I create an image plane to export the Cf variable and I want to create one plane for each light. So I change the “Lights export” option to “ Export variable for each light”.
I render and i obtain 2 extra planes but with all the lights in it
What did I forget ?

after more investigation, it seems that only the first primitive sdf can be use by curl vop … reordring to erase some volumes is fine then.

Hello,
I wonder how to use collision sdf option with curlnoise vop.
I tried the op:`opinputpath(“.”, … )` expression but I am stuck since there is several voxel grid in the object I want to refer and I don't know how to tell the curl to use a specific one.

it's impossible to launch houdini on Windows XP Pro x64
The install ( build 592 vc11) is done without problem but when I launch Apprentice i have a message ( in french so I roughly translate it):
“Entry point InitOnceExecuteOnce missing in KERNEL32.dll”
First time I see this and I don't know what it means.

Hello,
I am making an asset with two inputs.
Inside this asset, I have a switch
I want to check if something is connected to the 2nd input and then change the switch value ( from 0 to 1).
I tested this python expression :
node = hou.node('../')
nConn = node.inputConnections()
if len(nConn) == 1 :
return 0
return 1
if the code seems to work I have now an issue because when the second input is non_connected, my asset return an error “ not enough source specified”
How can I make it work ?

I have a transform node in the 2nd input of a vopsop.
I refer like so ch(“../xform1/ry”) to get the value of the ry channel.
My problem is I need to use my vopsop with a lot of transform although I need an expression to replace the name of the transform node dynamically.
ch(“../`opinput(”.“, 1)`/ry”) doesn't work
ch(“../”+`opinput(“.”, 1)`+“/ry”) doesn't work
ch(`“../opinput(”.“, 1)/ry”`) doesn't work
ch(“`”../opinput(“.”, 1)/ry“`”) doesn't work
no more idea guys …
is it a backquote thing ?
