Danke!
Another thing I noticed is the strange snapping seemed to occur because of “CapsLock” beeing pressed (my keyboard unfotunately dosn't give any visual feedback on that matter).

Hi,
I've got two questions on “strange” behaviour of Houdini.
1. If I want to move a pivot, I select it, press “Inss” and then I should be able to freely move it around. But even though I haven't toggled on any snapping, my pivot seems to be snapping on various points, so it's a real pain to get the pivot right where I want it to be.
2. I want to keyframe e.g. the rotation of an object. So I select the frame, go to the parameter, do ALT+ LMB but instead of showing the amount of transformation, it says “bezier()” in all the parameter's value fields.
I think I accidently turned on some functinallity/ mode, but how can I get rid of it again?
Thanks for any hints!

Hi,
I am using H9 Apprentice 9.5.303 at home on a 2Ghz Dual Core Notebook, WinVista Business 32, 2GB RAM. It's not fast as hell but it's working.
Today I doing some R& D work on fluid character stuff, so I installed the same version of Houdini on my workstation, there.
It's a Quad Core Xeon at about 2.5Ghz, 4GB RAM, QuadroFX graphics adapter and WinXP64.
I created a very simple scene, with a fluid container (5*5*5, 20 uniform divisions), inside there is a platonic teapot connected to an isooffset node as a “fluid object” and I simulate the fluid volume falling onto the container's bottom.
I think it was running much faster on my notebook- I had it running for about 20 frames and as I wanted to playback from cache on the workstation it took ages. On the notebook I can playback cached stuff in realtime.
Is there any benchmark for H9? Do you know about something I might have done wrong on the workstation machine (e.g. some setting that will screw up sim times)?

Thanks for your help, but it still doesn't work.
You gave me the proof of concept that this is a serius bug in my version of Houdini.

Hi,
I am very new to Houdini and was doing a tutorial where a wind field is used with a fluid container.
I created a new scene, put a fluid container in and selected it. Then I clicked the wind force in the shelf, but all thet happened was an error message popping up “Attempt to access an object that no longer exists in Houdini”.
So I tried the procedure vice versa (first selecting the wind force, then the fluid container), but all I got was the same result. Looking it up in the help said that I did nothing wrong. So I created another scene, but again all I got was an error message, no wind field.
So, how do I correctly create a wind filed for a fluid container? What am I doing wrong?
