I simply revised your posted scene using your source objects. Personally I did not see any concave objects in your scene, it is just a fractured wall. A concave object is like a bowl, right?
I did notice your simulation was hosed, it took too long and had interpenetrating convex objects. I simply threw the entire AutoDOPNetwork away and the ground planes and built it up again. Sometimes it is easier to do that than to try to figure out what default value you may have twiddled unknowingly slowing or altering the final simulation.
Do you have an example CONCAVE hip file that need help with?

Just cache it out and put a time shift on the playback. You can control when a cache starts playing. Or just glue it together and break the bonds when needed.

Sometimes you have to throw nodes away and just start over. I did this with your scene. I deleted everything but the wall pieces and then used the shelf tools to recreate the simulation. It works faster and better now.

There is some information and example HIP files on this site [tokeru.com] about how to instance copies onto deforming geometry. Scroll down the page a bit.

You may want to inspect the collision geometry generated from your source mesh. If the sampling is not high enough the resulting collision surface may be evaluated as a shape with poor boundaries or holes. If you can post an example scene that would help identify the actual problem.

I think you need to calculate one more point. You see holes because you have 3 points forming a triangle inside of a quad area.
Here is a link [gamedev.stackexchange.com] to a possible solution for calculating the fourth point but you may want to search a bit on your own.

With a straight line you may want to expand it before you extrude.
To extrude down the length of a line you can use a PolyWire node.

Houdini Indie and Apprentice » Did Not Parse Header Correctly? (Apprentice License Woes)

Hi All,
I have an Indie license at home that works fine. I also like to run an Apprentice version at work for learning purposes. However, recently, I have not been able to acquire a license for Houdini Apprentice 15.5. I get a message “Did not parse header correctly”.
Is there any fix for this?
NOTE: I did visit the URL posted in the message box and entered my server information. The webpage issued the same reply as the message box, Did not parse header correctly.
When I view the diagnostic information from the License Administrator I see a list of 20 expired license on this machine dating back more than a year. Have I reached some limit? I have uninstalled and re-installed but the previous license information seems to persist. All three server check marks are green or all yes inside the diagnostic information.

I came across this thread a while ago about how to make a pyro sim less mushroom cloud like. Perhaps there is some information there that might help refine your sim?

There is no fix for this, Mantra is slow.
Use a third party render system such as Octane to accelerate rendering speed.

You can't run accelerated graphic operation through virtual machines.
You are better off partitioning the drive and “really” installing Ubuntu on it's own partition.

Houdini Indie and Apprentice » renderman with indie

I am using Renderman with Indie and it works. There is an extensive thread on the Renderman website about how to get this working. The steps vary according to what OS you are running.
In my case, on Windows 7 64bit I simply installed Renderman then altered the houdini.env with the following lines.
The first step is to get Renderman to work without Houdini. Can you render the example files? Once you know Renderman works then you can take the extra steps to get it working with Houdini.

I would probably look at putting the random copies in the DOP Import result node. Then all DOP work is done and you typically have points that you can copy on to.

Is your current material is taking density into account? Try dropping a billowy smoke volume based material onto the object and it will render. I would probably just drop down an isooffset followed up by a ConvertVDB.

You would fracture the tree branch and then glue it together. Then break only a few of the glue bonds.
