Styling hair in XSI and using Houdini for dynamics?

Hi,

We have a complete XSI pipeline here but XSI's hair dynamics are pretty poor. Our TD suggested we try to comb and style in XSI and then bring it over and do the dynamics in Houdini. Afterwards we could render in Renderman or MentalRay.

Would that make sense? Is there a better way to do hair? Any suggestions or recommendations?

Thank you all

This isn't meant to promote houdini per se, but it seems to me it would be more straightforward to create and groom the hair in houdini, do the dynamics and render out to Rman or mentalray from houdini.

Or pass the guide hairs form XSI to houdini dynamics, send the solution back to XSI for hair generation and grooming. I wouldn't think you'd want to do dynamics on the full, groomed hair.
