Hi

I have installed Houdini apprentice and when I attempt to load it I recieve the following message:

License Error: Unable to connect to hserver for license aquisition

This error appears twice, before the program quits. The ‘Houdini License Server’ service is running, but the ‘Houdini License Client’ is not. If I start it and try to run Houdini, I get the following message:

License: Hserver communication error

The client service then stops, and I recieve the first message again.

The license administrator connects to the licencing server, and produces the following diagnostic:

Diagnostic Output:

You need to obtain licenses, so you need to make sure you are connected to the internet, and the License manager is able to get through your firewall or proxy or whatever. Alternatively You can request licenses online through your browser and manually enter them here:

MichaelC - thanks for the advice.

I tried setting the license administrator to use my proxy, and not to (both should work), but to no effect.

I have entered the licenses and they register correctly, but the problem still persists. Any ideas?

In Windows:
Go to “Control Panel” > “Administrative Tools” > “Services”
Find “HoudiniLicenseServer” on the list
Right-click on it and press “Start”, so that it can start manually.

Windows forced me to restart for a “critical update”, and ended up disabling my 2 Houdini services, including the license server. Thanks for the advice.
