In Maya you have the option to select all objects that has the current shader assigned to them. I am wondering if Houdini has similar feature? It's a quick way to reassign the objects onto a new shader.

Given nobody are answereing this simple question, I have to assume that this is not possible in Houdini. The best way I found to get around this is to delete the old shader and then rename the new shader with the exact same name.

Hi, inside the “Material palette”, just select the material in question and hit the “Select” button. Regards Carsten
