apply "template" attributes when unpacking?

Hi,

I'm looking for a functionality that would be super useful, but can't figure it out.

Say I have a bunch of packed objects (geometry consisting of say 12 points, 12 packed primitives). I add some point (or primitive) attributes to this geometry (say Cd, with the intention of having different color for each piece after unpack).

What I'm looking for is similar to the Copy SOP's “Use Template Attributes”, i.e. to have attributes to be applied somehow for each packed prim on (after) unpack (so, in this case Cd attribute from the packed primitive would be inherited by its unpacked version on unpack).

I hope I'm making sense here… Any ideas would be appreciated (worst case scenario would include sending this as an RFE, too).

cheers
