Hi All,

I'm new to this software and I have tried importing ‘DAE file’ into Houdini. However, the 3D model does not appear in the software.

Is there any tutorial that could probably guide me on importing of 3D files into this software?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

.DAE (Collada) describe a scene and not only geometry.
So you could import your scene in menu File>Import>Collada…

I've done just that and I can't see the object in the viewport. But the nodes are present in the node panel. Any ideas aboutt how to get the object visible?

Check the scale of your scene.
1st. Select the node ‘collada_scene’, and try a Ctrl+G (zoom on selected objects)

2nd. Dive into the node (multiple times if necessary) and middle click on geometry node to see the bound of your scene/object.

if you're coming from Maya you scene scale is likely cm - but in Houdini the default is meters

so your imported geometry will be 100 times bigger than it should be…
as fsimerey says…space+g to see all objects in the scene…and check the nodes
