Simulating white water using geometry cache

Hello, first post here.

I simulated the base of my water simulation and am so far pretty happy with it but I'm not entirely sure how to simulate my white water particles off of it. I cached the base water out using the ROP output driver node so my “sim” files all have a bgeo extension. I have a picture of how I'm reading the simulated files attached.

Also, I noticed on the Houdini documentation that you're supposed to cache the DOP simulations to create .sim files. Does that mean I have to redo my sim? Or can I make do with the bgeo files I've already cached out.
