UI dual monitor interactivity issues

Just reported this via the bug reporting channel but I'm curious if anyone else noticed the problem.

H16 530

When using a dual monitor setup, Houdini panes on the 2nd monitor are unresponsive to selection and navigation. When dragging the same pane back to 1st monitor, they become responsive again. Can't think of any reason for this but it was able to replicated with every session of H16 530.

Anyone else notice this?

Also wanted to point out that I'm using a Wacom Intuos Medium tablet. I can't edit the original bug report so hopefully someone sees this here.

Hello,
Got the same issue here. At first I thought it had something to do with the Windows 10 UI Scaling - but I think the wacom pen is the issue. Did you try mouse input on the second display? That works flawlessly… But with the wacom it offsets all movements for xy pixels - drives me insane…
With the latest H15.5 build no problem whatsoever.

Yes, qt4 version solves all problems for me as well. The radial was glitched in qt5 as well… now everything is responsive as in H15.5 with wacom etc… Thanks for the tip!

Cool that the Qt4 build works. Stick with that for now if you have a better experience.

But I'm curious about the issues with the main (Qt5) builds. Would it be possible to post your Houdini Info here? I'm most interested in the monitor setup, video card and driver, and operating system.

Also, can someone post a screenshot of the radial menu from the main build? I'm interested to see what a ‘glitched’ menu looks like.

Thanks!

Hello!

i discovered that the “glitched” radial menu is only displayed when I select the “Large” UI Size for my setup. All other variants are ok.

Houdini 16.0.536 may fix the radial menu rendering under Microsoft Windows. Do you have the same problem with that build?

Thanks for the info Olaf!

Yes. I believe that you are correct that the two monitor, different resolution setup is triggering the problem.

I haven't been able to reproduce the dual monitor interactivity bug yet but I have committed a couple of fixes into build 16.0.537 for dual-monitor issues that I ran into last week.

Can you give build >= 16.0.537 a try and let me know if that helps?

Cheers,
Rob

Just wanted to add a note here that I've fixed a bug dealing with tablet clicks on secondary monitors on Windows. The fix is in tomorrow's Houdini 16.0.547 build.

Would this be related? On OsX couldn't click in the Network editor, or the any buttons in Save As dialog. H16.0.544

The bug I fixed was Windows-specific so unrelated to MacOS.

Also, I just tested again on MacOS and clicking in the Network Editor and Save As dialog worked fine for me. Tested on MacOS 10.10.4 with today's 16.0.547 build. I tried clicking in both my monitors (1 high dpi, 1 normal) with a mouse and also with an Intuos M tablet. Used High DPI UI size preference.

Does the problem happen all of the time for you?

Also, if you are using a Wacom tablet I suggest upgrading your drivers. I had problems with past drivers but have found the latest 6.3.20-* driver to be pretty good.

Other possibility is that the problem is specific to your desktop configuration. In that case can you post your Help -> About Houdini info here?

Cheers,
Rob
