Hello I am student still Learning much about Houdini

I'm trying to create this effect (See Attached GIF)

The body of the character has this coil effect traveling up its body

I have been R&Ding this effect for quite a while now and i still cant find a good solution to tackle this problem

I've though of animating a mask to travel the characters body as is Extrudes the masked area but it was too complicated for me to understand

Can anyone give me any suggestion for this?
