How to stop unreal from building mesh distance fields

Hi all.

I have a houdini engine tool running in Unreal, but after every change it proceeds to build mesh distance fields. This is super frustrating and slows down the interactivity for the artists. Is there a way to switch this off? The distance field resolution scale is set to 0 which is supposed to stop this, but it still continues to compute it.

The mesh distance option is in the project preferences in Unreal. Needs to be disabled there to stop it entirely.

Is this a standard workflow? Do people usually have is disabled for an entire project?
