Hi

I've created a flat tank simulation, now I'd like to add white water to it.
I'm clicking on the shelf tool, selecting a FLIP Object (/obj/AutoDopNetwork/flattank) and clicking Enter in the viewport.
But I'm getting the "No fluid object selected for whitewater" Error, what do I do wrong?

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "dynamics_whitewater", line 3, in <module>
  File "/opt/hfs18.5.532/houdini/python3.7libs/dopparticlefluidtoolutils.py", line 351, in createWhitewater
    raise hou.Error("No fluid object selected for whitewater.")
hou.Error: No fluid object selected for whitewater.

I'm attaching a recording of my steps.

Best regards

I see that someone had the same problem as I do:

But did not find a solution.

I found the solution: I was clicking on 3D viewport after selecting the FLIP Object.
Clicking on object in network view then only hovering a mouse over 3D view (without clicking) and pressing enter works.

That's unintuitive imho

I went through a similar situation today and nothing said here helped, so I would like to share an alternative that worked for me (Indie 19.5.493):
  • Start a new project, add a flat tank (shelf tool);
  • Apply whitewater shelf tool to it;
  • Copy all the nodes generated by the whitewater (CTRL+C);
  • Now open your existing working project, paste the nodes (CTRL+V);
  • Manually update the paths inside it to point to your existing nodes.

Houdini 19.5.368

I used the guided ocean layer and had similar issue after trying to activate the whitewater.

After trying all of these solutions, what worked for me :

*Mouse cursor has to be in 'Object Mode' - then the 'Show Handle' icon will be activated
*In the node network, select the node guidedoceanlayer_fluid (then in the 3d viewport you should see the particules selected in some kind of beige color)
*Then, in the top shelf, click on the 'whitewater' icon
*Then, in the network viewport, double click inside your DOP network, and select your Flip Object
*Then Hover your mouse on the 3d viewport and press ENTER
*Boum white water works!

The cursor on 'Object Mode' was the key thing that makes everything works for me.
I hope it will help
