Hi guys,
I'm wondering how can we get a production ready volumic light with Karma?

Thank you.

If you have an emissive volume.
Then you can set the geometry property "treat as lightsource" and Karma will treat it as a volume light (ie you'll get better sampling).

Regarding being able to use it as a light elsewhere (eg light-linking etc...), that will be a few months away I'm afraid, as we're limited by USD in that regard. But the good news is that the USD guys are "working on it"

if you are talking about volumetric light (aka god rays) then you will need to place a volume in your scene angd light it by lights, usually directional or point for sharper and more visble volumetric shadows

you should be able to use Karma Fog Box LOP to easily create a volume box in your scene

Sorry to hijack the thread, but is there any viable solution with similar results to Karma XPU? The fog box is not really working in XPU.

As far as I know the Fog Box uses VEX Shader (and maybe even houdini volumes and not vdbs).
But you can create your own fog box or modify the existing and then use the xpu Pyro Preview shader as a material.
